I’m Aimee. Mum to Jack Rex, Emelia Rose and my fur baby Fudge. My partner in crime and husband is Nick. We are The Coleman’s and we LOVE to craft!

It all started when our little boy Jack Rex found his love for arts and crafts. Yay!!

Like most kids Jack Rex loves to craft but doesn’t exactly love to follow instructions! I would get frustrated at how quickly we raced through craft kits and the poor quality of them. Most ended up in the bin and felt like a waste of money and time.

I realised that Jack Rex is in his crafting element, having fun and learning the most when he is given the opportunity to use his imagination and natural curiosity to make what he wants to create.

Using bits from the recycling bin, random arts and craft supplies plus just a little bit of inspiration and guidance from me (and his dad) he would create epic stuff often linked to conversations we had recently had, topics from school, things he loved or best of all totally random and just because!!

I could see him developing important skills like critical thinking, problem solving, self expression, collaboration (a tough one when 4yrs old and crafting with friends!) and more important skills. As well as having lots of fun!

I realised creativity was something i wanted to nurture in Jack Rex and i was inspired to launch Rex and Rose.

Our activity kits have been developed using our own experience as parents with craft loving kids and every new kit is tested by our own very harsh critic’s (Jack Rex & his friends)

 We found the squishiest, squashiest air dry clay we could and trust me we tested a lot! It’s extra soft and easy for the littlest hands to mould. It comes in 24 vibrant colours which can also be mixed so there is a colour for anything kids are inspired to make. Plus it’s mess free and safe for little hands!!

Our activity cards have been designed for kids, knowing what works and doesn’t work for them. No complicated, long, wordy instructions. Simple, visual guides kids can actually follow themselves. Thirteen different themes from unicorns to dinosaurs, farmyard to sealife, space to sweet treats. Themes every kid can enjoy. Plus lots of pictures of possible things to create to spark creative curiosity. Enough guidance but lots of inspiration thrown in too.

 Finally the accessories! This is where the magic and extra creativity happens. Put some gemstones, sequins, pipe cleaners, lollipop sticks, matchsticks, glitter and more on the table and amazing things happen! Their eyes light up and their imagination and creativity goes into overdrive! 

Jack Rex continues to be the inspiration behind our business. Our time together crafting is something we treasure. Our cupboards and shelves are bursting with his creations. To us they are all amazing, to others it might look like a load of rubbish. To us we see the treasured time together creating and how his imagination and curiosity has lead him to creating something he wanted to and loves.

We can’t leave without mentioning Emelia Rose. Emelia loves a little squidge but at only 18 months old she is a bit little but we are sure she will be joining us as soon as she can on our squishy adventures!!

Squish, squash, create. Adventures await!
